The Uvalde Foundation For Kids Calls For An End To School Gun Raffles

For IMMEDIATE RELEASE

14 April 2023 (607am)(CST)

(Upper Sandusky, Ohio)

National Nonprofit dedicated to ending school violence, The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, has filed an official complaint this week with Eric Landversicht, superintendent of Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools in Ohio; regarding a gun raffle held this month for Upper Sandusky High School’s track team. The raffle also offered an AR-15 Assault Rifle.

In the formal complaint, the foundation demanded that the Upper Sandusky High School’s discontinue its raffles of any weapons and further requestedan official, public explanation from the school and district for the raffle event choice; which the foundation stated, "Grossly undermines the progress of ending violence in our schools & remains a direct insult to those precious lives lost in this nation as a result of gun violence.

The very institutions in danger of gun violence are putting these weapons of mass destruction back onto the streets. Schools that engage in these type of fundraisers, should be ashamed."
