New Haven, Connecticut - Following the shooting death of a 16 year old New Haven Public Schools student, the One In Five Foundation For Kids, formerly known as the Uvalde Foundation For Kids; formed following the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in May 2022; announced that it is now recruiting and launching several volunteers from its national STOPNOW citizen school patrol teams to patrol the surrounding blocks of the campus to increase safety & provide student support to the school community.

Specific patrol focus will be on Goffe & Hudson neighborhoods, Hill House High School neighborhood and known bus student bus stop pick up/drop off locations throughout New Haven.

The shooter near Goffe and Hudson streets also hit a school bus carrying children from Celentano Biotech, Health and Medical Magnet School that was driving through the area.

The foundation, also noted that it is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest of the shooter, through its "Crimes Against Students National Reward Program,"

Foundation Statement: "Our foundation is heartbroken as we learned of this shooting today. We are responding immediately to the current shooting of this student, with immediate deployment of our school community safety patrol teams and additional crisis support resources at this time. We stand with the community in denouncing another tragic act of violence against our students.
We seek to further ensure this through our volunteer safety patrols, we seek at this time to add to the safety, support & well being of all students and residents at this time until the suspect is apprehended."

The emergency, STOPNOW volunteer safety patrols for the community neighborhood, will include over a dozen team members for ongoing rotation.

Foundation STOPNOW Patrols, modeled after the "Guardian Angels," anti crime unit in NYC in the 1980's, patrol school perimeters to minimize & prevent safety incidents from reaching school campuses; while also providing extra encouragement and support for students and neighborhoods. Patrols members are trained in situational awareness, conflict resolution, self defense, are uniformed, background check cleared and patrol in groups of 4-8.
