MORE INFO:
The sixth grader, Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez, was found on the afternoon of Feb. 6 at F. W. Holbein School, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed. She was pronounced dead two days later.
Authorities do not believe foul play was involved but Felicia's mother, as well as a parent of one of her friends, say Felicia, who had recently lost her father, had been bullied & that requests for help for both her daughter & other students had gone unheeded by the school officials and district.
This is at least the second suicide death of a New Jersey student this year connected to reports of bullying that the foundation has launched inquiries into. The Foundation noted that its investigation, to last several weeks, will include interviews with family members, students & parents.
The Foundation further stated that final report results, with recommendations, will be forwarded in an official report to school officials, in addition to the State Board Of Education & the current Superintendents office.
An Official Petition Has Also Been Circulated Calling For The Release Of School Surveillance Video To Family Members. The Foundation noted in its release that family members have been communicated with regarding the investigation by the Foundation & that notice has been given to the school & district.
