New York School Security Officer To Receive National Heroism Award

In an updated release Monday, The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to ending school violence, announced it will be awarding its National, "Abby Zwerner Hero Teacher Award," granted those who show dedication and heroism to students to Officer Jeff Lynch recently wounded following a shooting in Utica, NY following a HS Football game at Thomas R Proctor High School.
National Director, Daniel Chapin noted in the release, "In the midst of chaos school officer, Jeff Lynch not only kept his composure in attempting to intervene to protect students, but risked his own life for those students entrusted to his care. Individuals such as these are why our foundation supports officers on campuses & heroes such as Mr. Lynch."
The foundation also stated in the release that Officer Lynch joins other Hero Award recipients, such as Abby Zwerner of Richneck Elementary School in Virginia & several officers who responded to the Covenant School shooting in Tennessee.
