The Uvalde Foundation For Kids President Discusses School Violence With YAHOO NEWS
August 2022
After the Uvalde massacre, the Uvalde Foundation for Kids was created to address violence in the community. “This particular shooting was a wake-up call for so many people because it's sad that it happens, period, but when it happens to such young children in such a remarkable way, as this happened, I think it really hit home,” Daniel Chapin, the president of the foundation, told Yahoo News.
Chapin was a first responder during the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Littleton, Colo., which left 13 people dead and more than a dozen others wounded. Chapin says parents' concerns are nothing new.
“We have these incidents, and then they end and then we seem to go about our business. But parents have been concerned for a long, long time. ... We've got parents from Sandy Hook, parents from Columbine, parents from here in Uvalde. That will not and have not stopped. They are concerned because these are their babies. These are their children,” Chapin said.

Foundation Responds to the Roxborough High School Shooting In Philadelphia
September 27, 2022
A Message From The Founder & President Of The Uvalde Foundation For Kids Following The Recent Shooting Of 5 Roxborough H.S. Shooting in Philadelphia
"The Uvalde Foundation For Kids Expresses It's Hearfelt Sorrow & Outrage over yet another tragic shooting & loss of a student's life in our nation's "City of Brotherly Love." Tonight, a school community, famiy members and friends again wonder - Why? More parents tomorrow will awake fearful of sending their sons and daughters to school. School staff and community will prepare another funeral and students will walk the halls not discussing books and classes, but the death of a friend....
We stand with the city of Philadelphia & the greater community tonight and especially for the families of the victims.
I have directed our Foundation to make all of our collective resources available, including our 24 hour crisis line. Additionally, we are currently working on activating a STOPNOW School Patrol Team As additional support for the high school & its students...
We are here.... You are not alone... We are so sorry for your community. We will keep working to END THE VIOLENCE."
